HURRICANE IRMA – FORT MYERS

FABBRO & COMPANY PUBLIC ADJUSTERS SECURES $1.8 MILLION HURRICANE “IRMA” SETTLEMENT PAYMENT FOR CONDOMINIUM ROOF LOSS AFTER ASSOCIATION INITIALLY RECEIVES ONLY $44.90 FROM ITS INSURANCE COMPANY

In 2017, Hurricane “IRMA” delivered a direct hit on Southwest Florida. Many of the 50 residential buildings situated within the Oxford Pointe at Crown Colony Condominium Association community located in Fort Myers, FL, sustained windstorm damage. After engaging a qualified commercial roofing contractor to assess the damage and assist with their claim, 6 months passed without a successful resolution. In fact, a $700,000 repair estimate was submitted by the contractor, rejected by the carrier, then presented again in a mediation hearing that resulted in a $44.90 payment by the insurance company.

Understanding a successful resolution to their claim would be unlikely without professional assistance, the Board of Directors interviewed and soon after retained Fabbro & Company to prepare, present, and negotiate their claim.

Immediately upon Fabbro & Company being engaged, qualified engineers and roofing consultants were brought in to assess the roof damage and provide their findings and recommendations. A comprehensive loss and damages report was presented to the Board of Directors then presented to the insurance company for consideration.

Within a month of presenting the Association’s claim, Fabbro & Company reached a $1.8 million settlement after large, percentage-based deductibles were applied.
