PUBLIC ADJUSTER at FABBRO & COMPANY SECURES $3.3 MILLION HURRICANE “IRMA” SETTLEMENT PAYMENT FOR LARGE APARTMENT COMPLEX in Fort Myers, Florida

In 2017, Hurricane “IRMA” struck Southwest Florida, causing widespread windstorm damage to residential and commercial structures. After the storm, the College Pointe Apartment community observed significant damage to their tile roofs which resulted in numerous points of interior water intrusion. The property is comprised of 20, 3-story buildings housing a total of 424 individual apartment units.

Immediately after the storm, ownership, through its agent, contacted their insurance company to file a claim. Over the next several months, insurance company representatives inspected the damaged and retained structural engineers to assess the roofs. As a result, they presented ownership with an estimate of damages totaling $141,850, well under the $2.5 million policy deductible.

After receiving the carrier’s estimate, ownership asked the insurance company to reconsider its position. In response, the company hired new experts to reinspect which resulted in no change in position.

Over the following couple of years, ownership and its agents made additional unsuccessful attempts to sway the insurance company. Then, consideration was given to the idea of retaining one of many roofing contractors claiming they could “get all new roofs paid for by the insurance company with no out of pocket to the client“. Before making a decision, ownership reached out to a neighboring Condominium Association that traveled down the road of hiring a roofing contractor to prosecute their claim (illegally). After the roofing contractor failed in its attempt to settle the Condominium claim, the board retained Fabbro & Company Public Adjusters to successfully prepare, present, and settle its claim. This endorsement of Fabbro & Company resulted in an in-depth interview and vetting by ownership, its agent, and in-house legal counsel. Shortly thereafter and nearly 3 years after receiving the $141,850 offer from the insurance company, Dante Fabbro with Fabbro & Company was hired to fully evaluate and present the claim in an attempt to reach an amicable settlement.

Three months after being retained, Fabbro & Company presented its claim documentation to the carrier and shortly thereafter, reached a very favorable settlement and after deductibles were applied, procured a payment of $3.3 million.
